On Saturday 19th February 2022, NHSF (UK) gathered with students and families from across the country for NHSF (UK)’s National Sports Competition at Beauchamp College, Leicester.  After a two year hiatus, we welcomed over 778 university students from A number of different universities across the UK, this year not only marked our 30th anniversary but also saw a record-breaking 112 number of teams competing in Badminton, Football, Kabbadi, Kho-Kho, Netball and cricket.

The day showcased the tremendous sporting ability and sporting integrity of Hindu students. Alongside our sporting matches, NSHF (UK) were delighted to host a number of external organisations that enlightened and inspired our students to engage with the Hindu Dharma through a number of different platforms. Notably was the promotion of selfless acts of service (sewa), an integral part of NHSF (UK) activities. Inspiring our chapters to dedicate their time and work for the wellbeing of humanity, Youth for Sewa presented a once in a lifetime opportunity for students to engage with sewa-based projects in India, such as women’s empowerment, education, healthcare and many more. Additionally, the Hindy Sahitya Kendra provided a literary platform for our students to interact and engage with Dharma based publications and inspired thought-provoking conversations amongst our Hindu student community.

During the sporting events, NHSF (UK) were delighted to be joined by a number of professional sporting bodies including Netball England, English Cricket Board, Netball England, Kho Kho Federation England and England Kabaddi Association. Providing expert guidance and supporting the referring of sporting matches, these professional bodies ensured the success of the day and provided further opportunities for NHSF (UK) to broaden their sporting endeavours for the student community.
