As the 2016 Rio Olympic Games reach its climax, we have seen countless records being broken and the rise of emerging stars of the future, such as, Max Whitlock, Penny Oleksiak and Laura Trott. These coupled together have already built a long lasting legacy for many of us.
The games have brought a positive turning point to the worldwide refugee crisis by hosting a neutral team of 10, from South Sudan, Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo – being picked in three sports – athletics, swimming and judo. The desire shown by this team reminded us that they are also people with dreams and goals. Their ambition to take part in the Olympic Games not only inspires us, but millions of others waiting for safety around the world.
American gymnast, Simone Biles, was famously quoted saying, “I’m not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps, I’m the first Simone Biles”. Her spirit and motivation to build a name and create a legacy of her own in the Olympic history books has led her to achieve a record breaking four gold medals. There is no question that the example set by Biles at this Olympics has served as a source of inspiration to many young athletes.
Similarly, NHSF (UK)’s vision for the 25th anniversary, “25: Bearing 
the flame of Hindu Dharma”, is to create a mind-set of excellence and to inspire the next generation of leaders who embody the core Hindu principles of respect, cohesion and diversity. It is this ambition we still hold close to our hearts today, as we did 25 years ago at our first stall at the Hindu Half Marathon. October 2017 will host “The Ambition Run”, where over 5,000 people, of various of races, religions and nationalities, will unite to run a half marathon carrying this dream with them.
Our 25th Anniversary aims to bring together stakeholders of the Hindu Samaj and offer a platform to convey the long-term vision of NHSF (UK) and how we aim to make a change in the landscape of the Hindu community in the UK.
We ask you all to join us in the upcoming celebrations for our milestone year! Together we will succeed!
