Vikram Solanki inspires students in sports competition endorsed by Seb Coe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Sunday 21st February 2010, National Hindu Students Forum (UK) [NHSF] hosted their 6th Annual Sports Competition at Loughborough University.
\n
\nDespite the heavy snow in midlands overnight, over 600 students from 25 different universities competed in Football, Cricket, Netball as well as traditional Indian sports: Kabaddi and Kho-Kho. Students from Manchester University outclassed the Army soldiers in an exhibition match of Kabaddi.<\/p>\n

England cricketer and Worcestershire captain Vikram Solanki said, \u0093I\u0092m very impressed by the sheer enthusiasm you guys have shown. Sport to me is about competition, it brings out the best in people; so compete fiercely as I\u0092m sure you will, but compete fairly as well.\u0094<\/p>\n

Lord Sebastian Coe<\/b>, the chair of the London 2012 Olympics committee endorsed the event and said, “The National Hindu Students Forum’s Annual Sports Competition is another example of the UK’s passion for sport that the London 2012 team spoke about when we won the bid to stage the 2012 Games.”<\/p>\n

Hindus are currently underrepresented in British Sport. With the London 2012 Olympic Games fast approaching, the NHSF Sports Competition is a perfect platform to encourage Hindu Students to take up sport at a higher level and one day represent Great Britain in the Olympics.<\/p>\n

Commander of Recruiting in the East, Lt Col David Hollas<\/b> said, \u0093Thank you for welcoming my soldiers and allowing them to take part in your sports. Today you have displayed the kinds of qualities that we\u0092re looking for in our soldiers: fitness, teamwork and tactics.\u0094<\/p>\n
