This year, NHSF Liverpool hosted North Zone Sewa day! As well as many chapter members, we were also joined by guests from Liverpool, Sheffield, Manchester, Huddersfield and Bradford.<\/p>\n
The day began with an Aarti, which was followed by inspirational talks from National Committee members about the different forms of Sewa, how to be a Sewa superhero and the difference between Sewa and charity.<\/p>\n
This was followed by a game, of Sewa related Chinese whispers; and as we discovered, the sentence can change a lot from the initial person!<\/p>\n
During the break, we held a charity bake sale of delicious cakes, freshly made and donated by Liverpool\u2019s BakeSoc (supporting Divya Sewa Foundation and Unicef). For lunch, some mouth-watering Indian food was kindly donated by the local Indian restaurant, Rumi.<\/p>\n
Later, we were joined by Liverpool\u2019s Meditation Society, who ran a relaxing meditation session. After embodying a peaceful mind-set, we joined in with the active yoga session run by a local yoga class co-ordinator. This was a huge hit with the participants – everyone had a go!<\/p>\n
For the afternoon session, everyone got creative in the \u2018Seven Themes of Sewa\u2019<\/strong> competition. We had a variety of entertaining performances, but the winner was the Human & Community group with their inspirational adaptation of the \u2018Fresh Prince of Bel Air Rap\u2019 for helping those who are less fortunate – well done!<\/p>\n Then to round off the day, we all made Sewa pledges, which was the perfect way to reflect on what was learnt during the day.
