Project Background NHSF is the lone national student body representing Hindu University Students. However, despite becoming established over the last 20 years we have failed to make our mark on the political arena. NHSF must have the capacity to represent Hindu’s in the political arena. This mean’s having representation across University level student unions and in the National Union of Students, not only this but NHSF must have the ability to monitor the pulse of Hindu opinion and react accordingly. We would like the intern to help us develop a better understanding of student politics.
Project Description
We want to know what opportunities there are for Hindu’s to engage in student politics. Although the intern is able to steer this project into what direction they see fit, there is a foundation which we would like them to have built.
The intern is expected to have created a database which includes a profile out what elections take place at each of our university chapters and on a national level. This includes dates, eligibility, and description of roles available. Although there is a strong research element with this task, there is a scope for the sixth former to establish stakeholders and networks at universities which they feel we should give particular focus to. It will involve a lot of Internet research, phone and email communications with university unions and NHSF chapter committees.

Sustainability of the Project – where this project will go once the 4 weeks are up. What is the vision for the future of the project?
Once we have profiled each university, we can input this into a database and work with our chapters to encourage their members to stand for the upcoming elections. This will give us the opportunity to be proactive and give us plenty of time to encourage students to stand as well as allowing enough time for us to support them run a successful campaign.
