Project Name: HLA Student Membership

Project Background – The Hindu Lawyers Association is a recently founded organisation that aims to create a community of legal professionals who will be able to provide direct assistance to Hindu based organisations and communities. Created through the NHSF (UK), the Association hopes to bring together like-minded individuals to share in beliefs of Hinduism and its interaction with society and the law.
The association targets both students and professionals, which are clearly two different sections of the demography. Students need to be treated separately. Therefore, a membership strategy needs to be developed which is specific to the student population. Furthermore, the project is key to ensuring that the distinction between NHSF, as the founding body, and HLA, as its own separate entity, remains.
Project Description – Your task will be to devise a strategy to get students to pay a membership fee to join the HLA and begin implementation of it. Research into other legal bodies which advertise membership of their professional bodies to law students, will need to be carried out and presented your findings to the HLA team.
You will need to:
a) Demonstrate an understanding of what benefits students are receiving in return for their fee and develop a similar package for HLA students
b) Look into what marketing tools and strategies can be adopted to ensure students pay membership to the HLA.
In order to ensure that this project is a success, you will be liaising with the financial officer of HLA on a regular basis. The second part of the project will be to create a plan of action to ensure the marketing we adopt is effective and sustainable.
Resources Needed
– A computer with access to the internet
– Access to a phone.
– Little travelling may be required.
Sustainability of the Project – Once your project is finished, HLA will adopt the membership strategy you have developed and carry out the plan of action you created. This will hopefully translate into a much more organized membership system for future years.
