Project Background:
Sewa Day has come a long way since its inauguration two years ago where it was a national project whereas now it has become a worldwide phenomenon with thousands upon thousands of individuals, groups and communities giving up their time to fulfil the three small aims.
· To relieve hardship and poverty
· To bring a little joy
· To help the environment
Many chapters take on the link they have with the project they undertake during Sewa Day and incrementally add to it during the year. Thus this has become a base for some NHSF chapters Sewa to start to shine right from the start of the academic year.
Project Description:
Over the past two years it has been difficult for chapters to get involved with Sewa Day to the fullest extent we know they can mainly due to the awkward dates. It falls on the day after our national event and is usually the first week of university for many freshers. Although this year there is a much more desired time for NHSF being October 7th (as part of the Queens Jubilee) we also wish not to have such problems in years to come. Thus we require a contingency plan on the off chance of this occurring again.
Also we believe with prior planning for their event starting earlier the problems faced could be identified much earlier or perhaps eradicated. This is a chance for a member to really get their teeth stuck into the planning of not just one Sewa event but many across the country, linking with chapters and using their expertise early on to plan events as well as promoting these events to ensure full attendance to the events.
1st Stage – Contact Chapters and discuss initial ideas for Sewa Day, previous ideas, problems faced from last year and creative ideas. Can the chapters link with other organizations?
2nd Stage – Start to help plan events with chapters. Contacting their local council/personal links etc
3rd Stage – Follow up with chapters how far their progression has gone. How many participants will be allowed? How many Sewa Day T-shirts will be needed? Is there a need to choose a different event? Why would this be the case?
4th Stage – Is the event finalised? If so can work begin on the promotion of the events? What promotion can be put into place?

· PC/Laptop
· Telephone/Skype (There may be cost incurred from mobile phone calls)
· Resourceful
· Experience with organising sewa/charity events (if possible)
· Sense of humour 😀
Sustainability of the Project:
Once this has finished we will look to put these projects in action. They can be a stepping-stone for the chapters and potentially ones they use for years to come every Sewa Day. If there is a project with staying power this is definitely one of them.
