The Hindu Community pays tribute to the five British Servicemen killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Amongst these Heroes was Flight Lieutenant Rakesh Chauhan, an intelligence officer with the Royal Air Force, who died when the Lynx came down the Kandahar Province on the early hours of Saturday.

A truly inspirational figure who served on his third tour of Afghanistan, post life training as an Officer in 2008. During his final year Flt Lt Chauhan achieved the rank of a Cadet Warrant Officer in the RAF section of the Combined Cadet Force, and was awarded the medal for the most outstanding cadet. Whilst we are sad to lose such an influential figure. We take great inspiration from his commitment to make a real difference in the world around him, pride on the respect for the challenge Flt Lt Chauhan in the service for his country.

National Hindu Students’ Forum (UK) is sad to hear the loss of a great ambassador of our community. Our thoughts, prayers and support go out to the Family and Friends close to Flt Lt Chauhan.
