On Saturday 13th September, 42 NHSF (UK) chapter committee members were pushing the boundaries by developing essential skills, networking and working together so they could become better leaders at their university.
A total of 170 enthusiastic chapter committee leaders took part in a range of activities and workshops throughout the day. The day included a series of six well-executed workshops focusing on essential skills ranging from public speaking to critical thinking, all of which were very well received. A platform to develop understanding and appreciating the work of other Hindu Organisations was facilitated by two organised networking sessions which enabled chapters committees to engage with influential British Hindu organisations, exciting projects and of course meet other committee members from across the country. Zonal breakouts and chapter-buddy sessions gave the chapters the opportunity to catch up over summer, discuss how to collaborate in the future and look forward to a year full of awesome national and zonal events. There was a lot of positive feedback from SCD that we can look to develop further in the future.
September Committees’ Day saw the launch of some exciting projects including Hindu Awareness Week, Bhumi Project, Roots, British Hindu Student Survey and our brand new website which can visited on www.nhsf.org.uk.
Overall, it was an eventful day resulting in skills being developed and collaboration between chapters. Above all, it was great to see what just ideas were a few months ago now becoming a reality across the board. The standards are high, the challenges our students face out there are ruthless, at such a time it is inspiring to see individuals using their identity to create a positive situation and thus paving the way for another successful academic year for our NHSF (UK) Chapters.
