It is that exciting time of year again where the National Hindu Students’ Forum (UK) are ready to embark on yet another adventure. With just under a week to go, the organisation is busy preparing for the first national event of 2015-2016: June Committees’ Day on 20th June at Brunel University. This year is going to be bigger and better with around 200 students attending from 49 affiliated chapters across the whole country. NHSF (UK) is looking forward to hosting a day where chapters can develop and learn new skills as well as understand the opportunities available for them to get involved within NHSF. JCD allows chapters to be prepared for the upcoming year by networking with their specific zonal teams and chapter buddies as well as the newly elected National Committee.
The day will start off with a brief introduction followed by a role breakout session in which each individual will attend workshops according to the role they hold in their respective committees. Here they will have the chance to understand their responsibility for that role as well as work with those in the same role from different chapters. After the breakout sessions, each individual will attend two workshops that they have chosen.
The workshops to be carried out on the day are: Public Speaking, Money Management, Events Management, How to Maximise the Use of Social Media, Sponsorship and Starting up an NHSF Chapter. These workshops will allow each individual to gain and develop their skills in certain areas and will allow those newly affiliated chapters to get an idea of how to run a Hindu Society.
The day will continue with zonal breakouts, giving each chapter and their buddy a chance to meet the new zonal team, chapter-committees, and make a start on planning their first term. In previous years, a key focus has been to emphasise the “Parivaar” feeling, with a united drive to work together -this is something we aim to continue this year.
This day will mark the growth of NHSF (UK) as we have a further five affiliated chapters that are joining this year. JCD has always been a fun‑filled and inspiring experience.
