As thousands of students begin a new academic year at university, NHSF (UK) chapter committee members also begin to prepare to turn months of hard work and ideas into reality.
On Saturday 19th September, 26 chapters came together for September Committees’ Day (SCD) at Sheffield University to help them develop their leadership skills.
A total of 90 chapter committee members took part in a range of activities including a new and interactive networking session designed to help improve communication skills. Remya Unnithan, General Secretary said “Providing chapters with the opportunity to network with each other and professional bodies, and exchange business cards (an innovative idea by our very own National Committee member Priyesh Ranmal) gave them an insight on how it will be throughout their academic year. It will ensure that not only their work and image is portrayed in a positive light, but relationships are also sustained in the future.”
The eventful day also included inspiring talks from the Armed Forces, Ishani Kantaria from our national charity – The Divya Sewa Foundation, Dharmesh Mistry, from Project Chakra and former President of NHSF (UK), as well as Vijay Deolia from Hindu Academy.
To conclude, Kishan Rabheru, Campus Coordinator said “Committees are about to embark on an incredible journey in this upcoming academic year, one which will test their abilities as an individual and as a team. The road ahead isn’t going to be an easy one, but the work you do and the achievements you will receive will be priceless! So stay focused and with a positive attitude you will do well and come out stronger!”
It was great to see so many committee members develop their skills and form new relations. As a former chapter committee member who attended SCD last year, I can reiterate that the skills developed on this day will certainly help for the successes and challenges that lie ahead.
