Everything starts from an individual. An individual idea, an individual person... even life itself began as a singular-celled organism.

So many times have people highlighted the importance of starting with number one...

Therefore, the Arise Arjuna Personal Team has developed two initiatives tailored to the individual (you!) - One learning-focussed and one action-focussed...

INITIATIVE #1

In an episode of Friends, 'The One Where Pheobe Hates PBS', Joey says to Pheobe that there is no such as a selfless act because every act brings joy to the doer. However, Joey clearly wasn't savvy to the Sanätan (eternal) concept of Sewa - pure selfless service.

The subtle difference about it being selfless is the intention behind the act. If it's done to feel good about yourself (consciously or even sub-consciously), then it's obviously not selfless and, hence, not Sewa. However, if the intention is to do it simply because YOU feel it's your duty to do so, then that IS selfless. Clearly Joey still has a bit to learn...

This concept of Sewa is a fundamental pillar of practicing Hindu Dharma and being a 'practicing Hindu'. Therefore, the Arise Arjuna Personal Team decided on an initiative to help YOU do this...

Initiative #1

Practicing - YOU do an act of Sewa once a week/day
Let us go from random acts of kindness to the point where Sewa is so ingrained in us that they become natural acts of kindness.

INITIATIVE #2

Our parent's generation were very much the 'How' generation and were concerned with how to do certain Hindu practices. In this Western environment, we've naturally become the 'Why' generation. Our main concern with everything is "Why?"

Therefore, whilst practicing is of paramount importance, so is knowledge. Knowledge is power and it's needed before we can practice. Why do an action which is hollow and without meaning simply for the sake of doing it?

On that note, the Arise Arjuna Personal Team developed their second initiative to help YOU overcome this...

Initiative #2

Learning - YOU read 10mins daily on any Hindu Dharma topic

  • Example Topics:
    • Dharma vs Religion, Tradition, Culture, Faith etc - What's the difference?
    • Brahmän
    • Sanätan Principles: Ahimsa, Satya etc
    • Importance of Sewa
    • What's 'Aum' got to do with it?
    • Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads, Dharma Shashtras - What's the difference??

However, remember that, as Bruce Lee, the greatest practitioner of Kung Fu and Jeet Kune Do, said...

Juddi Krishnamurti puts the need of the upliftment of the individual well...

"... it depends on you, and not somebody else" - Juddi Krishnamurti

So, what are YOU going to do now?? Do these initiatives religiously, or be just another heap of flesh and blood?

The decision is yours and yours alone...!
