The National Hindu Students Forum (UK) would like to express its deepest regret and condemnation of the Delhi High Court explosion which killed at least ten and injured 47 people this morning. It is of great disappointment and immense frustration that such attacks are becoming something of a habit in our inspirational Bharat Mata (Mother land).

British Hindu students have an abundance of respect and affection towards the UK, yet, one must equally appreciate the love and affiliation British Hindus have with India for its spiritual inspiration. Our scriptures, tradition, culture have all emanated from this land and it is also the birthplace of our ancestors who have roots in this land. Hindu Dharma would not exist if it were not for India and the world would be absent of the richness our Dharmic principles bring. Therefore, an attack of this nature on our Holy land raises strong emotion and feeling

India, the largest democracy on Earth, relies on an efficient and effective system of the rule of law in order to maintain control and order. The Court systems in India play a pivotal role in ensuring that such a densely populated country maintains strong levels of discipline. The administration of justice is integral in all democracies and becomes even more so in a large nation such as India. It is the Courts that have the ability to ensure the Government acts in a manner which is fair and equitable towards all members of the public, regardless of social status. An attack on the High Court seems to suggest a desire to cause major disruption to the functioning of the State.

This is the sixth attack in six years in India, with the last attack occurring in Mumbai three months ago. Such events have acted as a catalyst to take the nation from strength to strength. We have full confidence that the police, national guards and security teams will continue to work hard to bring those responsible to justice. However, it is clear that lessons need to be learnt from such attacks and we hope the necessary measures are taken to ensure this does not happen again. In this respect the civic society also needs to be vigilant and lend hand to the authorities to bring terrorists to justice.

In the mean-time our chapters, members and committees will devote prayers and thoughts to the victims and their families. We urge the International community to condemn and eradicate terrorism wherever it raises its ugly head.
