National Hindu Students Forum (UK) strongly condemns the three bomb blasts in Mumbai on Wednesday 13th July 2011 which killed 22 and injured 130 people. Our deepest sympathies and condolences are with the victims and their families.

Violence of any sort contradicts the principle of ahimsa, a pillar of Hindu Dharma, and NHSF therefore would like to express its regret in learning about these atrocities. In a climate of speculation, we stand firm that nothing justifies such terrible actions. However wronged or persecuted a group may feel, it is never necessary to resort to violence. We believe that resolution can only be achieved through fair and open dialogue between concerned parties.

Being one of the fastest growing economies in the world matched with consistently strong and loyal bonds with America and the UK, Hindus around the world are enormously proud of India, the country which holds the roots of the world’s oldest religion – Hinduism. It is therefore unfortunate that the actions of the minority are yet again attempting to shatter the spirit, unity and integrity which lay at the heart of the nation.

India is no stranger to attacks and such events have acted as a catalyst to take the nation from strength to strength. We have full confidence that the police, national guards and security teams will continue to work hard to bring those responsible to justice.

In the mean time our chapters, members and committees will devote prayers and thoughts to the victims and their families.
